Birds of Prey

Birds of Prey Adoptions and Donations

Official Tax Receipts will be issued for all Birds of Prey Adoptions and Donations

The Birds of Prey Program at Wye Marsh is in its infancy but shows great promise as a good revenue generator for the Marsh. Wye Marsh would like to develop a complete Falconry Centre with over 50 birds but we are taking baby steps until major funding can be secured. Please note that all birds are born and raised in captivity for educational purposes. Donation is the way we have found that allows us to add to the number of birds we have as well as their housing and equipment needs.

With the adoption of a Bird of Prey you are entitled to:

  • Name the adopted bird
  • A beautiful colour photograph
  • A quarterly e-mail update on progress of your adopted bird
  • Your name (or the name of a person of your choice) inscribed on a the recognition board for adoptees located in the Wye Marsh Centre
  • A complimentary one year membership to visit the Wye Marsh Centre
  • Opportunity to fly and work with your bird
  • Exclusive yearly show for all adoptees

Some of the birds below have been given names for training purposes.  As the sponsor you can change the name or keep the one we are currently using.  As you will notice we keep the names to one or two syllables to make it easier to call the birds.

Donation to Birds of Prey at Wye Marsh

We also offer the opportunity to donate towards the care and nurturing of a bird for a one year period.  The birds here at Wye Marsh require constant care which can be quite costly.  By donating towards a Bird of Prey you can assist us in offsetting some of these costs.  A donation of $300 represents the average cost of daily feeding of one bird for a year.

With this donation to a Bird of Prey you are entitled to:

  • Opportunity to fly and work with this bird once during the year
  • A beautiful colour photograph of the specific bird you have donated towards
  • Updates on the progress of the bird during the one year period by e-mail
  • Your name and year of donation on the recognition board displayed in the Wye Marsh Centre
  • Two complimentary one day family passes to visit Wye Marsh
