Come and experience the Wye Valley in winter!

Nature at it's best! Groomed and track set trails wander through snow laden conifers, sparkling clearings and old logging roads along hardwood ridges. Several lookouts provide a scenic panorama of the 1000 hectare Wye Valley.

Trumpeter Swans at Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre in WinterThe Wye Valley is a wildlife management area inhabited by deer, coyotes, fox, beaver and many more mammals, winter birds and Trumpeter Swans. Interpretive signage along the trails will help you to appreciate the landforms of the valley and the wildlife that live here.

During the winter the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre features a wide variety of activities and special programs. Included in these winter programs are the following:

  • Cross country skiing and Snowshoe trails and Wildlife viewing
  • Winter and March Break Day Camps
  • NEW Ski Clubs for individuals and families
  • Residential – Stay overnight at the Marsh! (unique learning opportunities when our group stays overnight)
  • Full Moon Marsh Meandering
  • Winter Picnics
  • Winter Snowshoe Ecotours
  • Behind the Scenes Tours

There’s plenty to do at the Marsh, whether you choose to relax around the campfire, roasting marshmallows and sipping on apple cider or take a leisurely walk along our beautiful trails. Family Holiday activities all day, holiday crafts for the kids, help decorate the Marsh Tree, guided walks (snow shoeing and cross-country skiing weather permitting). Come and discover the beauty of the Wye Marsh during this season of celebrations.

Ski Facilities

  • Over 25 km of trails forested groomed and track-set trails
  • Full Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Rentals available for a small fee
  • Beverages and light snacks available
  • Warm wood stove and outdoor campfire area

** Last Admission to Ski Trails is 3:00 pm. Must be off Trails by 4:00 pm **

Wye Marsh Expands Eco-tour Program for Winter 2008
The Wye Marsh is expanding its successful summer eco-tour program to give guests and visitors the opportunity to explore winter in Ontario. Wye Marsh naturalists will guide visitors behind the scenes into the world of woodland and wetland research using snowshoes. Read More>>
