Canoe Ecotours

The Wye Marsh is proud to bring you our most exciting new program and a unique opportunity to explore spring at the marsh –CANOE ECOTOURS.  This is your chance to go behind the scenes into the world of woodland and wetland research by getting into the thick of things during the springtime when new life is cropping up everyday.  One of our qualified and knowledgeable naturalist guides will lead you on a three hour canoe experience that will take you deep into the wooded areas of the 3000 acre Wye Marsh.  This adventure could bring you face to face with forest creatures such as Beavers, Deer, Trumpeter Swans, Least Bitters, a variety of duck species and so much more.

Learn about wildlife through first hand experience!

Our knowledgeable guides will take you through the problems associated with woodland and wetland management while keeping you up to date on the latest research undertaken by the Wye Marsh staff.  By learning the tips of tracking and birding, you will discover animal behaviors, characteristics and adaptations of some of Ontario’s most interesting animals and birds in their forest paradise.  This is truly a different and exciting springtime adventure you’ll be sure to remember.

Testimonial from customer who went on the Twilight Ecotour on June 21st, 2007:

"Thanks to Adrian for providing such an unforgettable canoe trip through the most inaccessible areas of the Wye Marsh.  It was truly thrilling to see the trumpeter swans take flight and splash about, the antics of the Caspian tern, the beaver and muskrat lodges as we paddled by, the beautiful marsh wildflowers and the amazing heron rookery.  Adrian 's informative commentary, hospitality and good humour were matched only by the beauty of the Marsh and summer solstice sky at twilight.

The Wye Marsh is a wonderful local resource staffed with knowledgable and impassioned staff, which we encourage everyone to experience.  It's simple, unspoiled beauty reminds us all of our true place in the world and the importance of harmony with nature.

Our compliments to a well-presented nature facility with excellent and diverse programming."
