opportunity to go behind the scenes with our Trumpeter Swan Program Coordinator
a Wye Marsh Falconer or the Reptile Keeper.
Included in this “Behind the Scenes” pass, you will receive
an exclusive tour of our
facility, learn about the program of your choice, lend a hand while getting
“up close and personal” with some of our
wildlife and you will take home a souvenir crest or pin.

Cost is $50.00 Per Person with a minimum of 2
people in each group. Program length: 2 hours

look at wildlife programs taking place at Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre.

Receive a tour of the Swan Feed Room and learn more about the diet, biology,
life cycle and behaviours of these wild birds
Receive a tour of the Swan Treatment Centre and learn about the care
of sick and
injured Trumpeter Swans. Help your guide care for swan patients.*
Visit the Trumpeter Swan Feeding Docks and take part in the feeding routine
Learn about the importance of wildlife monitoring and its relevance to
the Trumpeter Swan
See the Tagging Trap and learn about Trumpeter Swan tagging procedures
*dependent upon if swans are being treated

Birds of Prey
Experience the life of a falconer for a day and learn
about the history and techniques used today.
Meet a Wye Marsh Falconer and learn about the responsibilities of this
title.
Learn the basics of the age old art of falconry and how to become a falconer
Learn about diet, biology, life cycle, behaviours and proper housing
of raptors
Receive an inclusive tour of the Wye Marsh “hawk walk” and
learn about the
individual characteristics of each raptor
Assist with daily care of the birds of prey
Assist with training a variety of levels of birds (from novice to experienced
birds)
Watch the birds fly! (weather permitting)
Learn about feeding and handling of birds of prey
Learn the “falconers’ knot” and how to “lure”
Reptiles and Amphibians
We will take you into the world of reptile education
with the Reptile Keeper
Learn and assist with the handling, safety, and
animal keeping
What is involved in a day in the life of a reptile keeper
You will get up close and personal with some of Ontario’s snakes,
turtles, and amphibians
while learning what it takes to ensure the best possible standard of
care.
This program includes a canoe turtle survey through the channels of the
Wye Marsh.
All programs run for 2 hours and include admission
to all facilities at the Wye Marsh.
