Summer 2007

Summer Camp 2007 a Huge Success

Camp Marshes and Moccasins Day Camp had another enjoyable year. Over 400 campers enjoyed dipnetting, canoeing, archery, crafts, games and loads of fun in the natural and beautiful setting of the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre.
Over the past four years, I have had the pleasure of working with great counsellors that have a natural gift for working with children and this year was no exception. Throughout the summer, parents and campers expressed their pleasure and satisfaction with our camp program.
The campers are engaged with active games, but at the same time, learn about the importance of nature; a great way to spend the summer.
This year, we raised funds to sponsor 14 children to come to day camp. Thanks to Bunn’s Kids and all others who donated. A special thanks to Margaret Black and her daughter Emily. Three years ago they started the Gordon Black Memorial Camp Sponsorship Fund. In total, their efforts have allowed 65 campers that would not have had this experience to come to Camp Marshes and Moccasins.
Camp Marshes and Moccasins is a camp where fun and learning occur naturally, where camp traditions are created and nurtured each year to the next. We look forward to next year and next year’s campers, so that the traditions and fun can continue. Thank you all again for making Camp Marshes and Moccasins a fun place to be. It was a great way to spend the summer.

- Adam Zita, Camp Director

“Awesome Camp! My daughter did not want to come home at the end of the day. We will surely be signing up next year.”
