Establishing and maintaining a growing and healthy population of Trumpeter
Swans is a costly and on-going task. The Friends of Wye Marsh Inc., a
non-profit organization, operates the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre and is
dependent on financial assistance from individuals and organizations to
fund educational programs and wildlife research.
There are many areas to which your donation to the Trumpeter Swan program
is greatly needed. Your donation may be used towards:
- Supplying year-round feed to the swans
- Medical bills
- Lead poisoning treatment and research
- Behavioural research
- Educational materials
- Swan facility maintenance
- Building projects
- Swan pond and berm rehabilitation
- Population inventory
- Distribution/migration research
Until 15 years ago the Wye Valley was silent; the Trumpeter Swan had not been seen in this area for over 200 years. Now, the Valley resonates with the triumphant call of this majestic species.
