Designations
Wye Marsh encompasses 3,000 acres of wetlands and forests. It is a an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest (ANSI), a designated Provincially Significant Wetland (PSW) and National Wildlife Area (NWA).
The Wye Marsh has also been designated as an Important Bird Area (IBA) providing habitat for a number of significant species including provincially Threatened Least Bitterns, Species of Special Concern Black Terns, and the famous Trumpeter Swans (with the Wye Marsh population representing approximately 10% of the Trumpeter Swan population in the province).
