Canadian Wildlife Services – Environment Canada
Through a lease agreement the Friends of Wye Marsh and the Canadian Wildlife Services have developed a working relationship for the stewardship of the National Wildlife Area and the interpretive centre. The goals NWA’s for Environment Canada – Canada Wildlife Services in general are: “The management approach for a NWA is to protect and conserve habitat for migratory birds and other wildlife species (plant and animal, including species at risk) and to provide public access that is non-detrimental to the wildlife, for purposes of research, interpretation, and recreation.”
Ontario Ministry of Mines, Northern Development, Natural Resources and Forestry
Through an agreement with the Friends of Wye Marsh, the Ontario Ministry of Mines, Northern Development, Natural Resources and Forestry has developed a working relationship, with the Friends for the stewardship of the Provincial Wildlife Area (PWA). The Ontario Ministry of Mines, Northern Development, Natural Resources and Forestry has identified the following goal for the Wye Marsh Provincial Wildlife Area: “To provide wildlife habitat and wildlife oriented day-use recreation, increase public awareness of wildlife and its management and allow harvesting of the area’s natural resources where compatible with other uses.” Both Environment Canada and the Ontario Ministry of Mines, Northern Development, Natural Resources and Forestry work with the Friends of Wye Marsh to secure government grants related to the goals and objectives of the care and stewardship of the NWA and PWA.
